The Role:
The Hadoop Application
Developer Technician provides code/design analysis and strategy, supports
project planning, and develops code and designs for complex projects.
Required Responsibilities:
- Analytical and problem solving skills, applied to a “Big
Data” environment
- Experience with large-scale distributed applications
- Proven understanding and related experience with Hadoop,
HBase, Hive, Pig, Sqoop, Flume, Hbase and/or Map/Reduce
- Hands-on experience with related/complementary open source
software platforms and languages (eg Java, Linux, Apache, Perl/Python/PHP,
Chef, Puppet)
- Hands-on experience with ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) tools
(eg Informatica, Talend, Pentaho)
- Hands-on experience with BI tools and reporting software (eg
Business Objects)
- Sound knowledge of Relational Databases (RDBMS), SQL &
No-SQL databases
- Experience with agile/scrum methodologies to iterate quickly
on product changes, developing user stories and working through backlog
- Prefer experience with Cloudera Hadoop distribution
components and custom packages
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 year of hand-on experience programming on Hadoop
- Minimum of 4 years systems development and implementation
experience
- Experience with the following tasks in the context of Hadoop:
- Implementation of ETL applications
- Implementation of reporting applications
- Application/implementation of custom analytics
- Administration of relational databases
- Data migration from existing data stores
- Infrastructure and storage design
- Developing capacity plans for new and existing systems
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or
Technical Science
